BackgroundTheefficacyofsystemicantineoplastictherapyonrecurrentWorldHealthOrganization(WHO)gradesIIandIIImeningiomasisunclear.

MethodsWeperformedaretrospectivemulticenteranalysisofserialcranialMRIinpatientswithrecurrentWHOIIandIIImeningiomastreatedwithantineoplasticsystemictherapies.Growthratesfortumorvolumeanddiameter,aswellaschangeratesforedemasize,werecalculatedforalllesions.

ResultsWeidentifiedatotalof34patients(23atypical,11anaplasticmeningiomas)withatotalof57meningiomalesionswhohadbeentreatedat6Europeaninstitutions.Systemictherapiesincludedbevacizumab,cytotoxicchemotherapy,somatostatinanalogues,andtyrosinekinaseinhibitors.Overall,tumorgrowthratesdecreasedduringsystemictherapyby51%fortumordiameterand14%fortumorvolumegrowthrates
